Privacy notice
How I handle your information
Confidentiality is central to counselling, and that begins before we ever meet. This notice explains what happens to any information you share when visiting this website or contacting me.
Who I am
I am Nadia Jemiai, a BACP registered psychotherapist and counsellor, and I am the data controller for any personal information you send me. You can contact me about anything in this notice at contact@nadiajemiai.com. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a data controller.
This website collects nothing automatically
This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and makes no requests to third-party services: the fonts, images and code are all served from the site itself. The hosting provider processes visitors' IP addresses transiently, as all web hosts must in order to deliver pages, but I receive no information about your visit.
When you contact me
If you email me or use the contact form, I will receive your name, email address and whatever you choose to write. Messages reach me through the services that host this website and my email. I use this information only to respond to your enquiry and, if we go on to work together, as part of your client record. Because messages to a counsellor can naturally touch on your health and wellbeing, I treat everything you send as confidential from the first contact. Please feel free to keep your first message brief; we can discuss anything fully and securely once we speak.
Legal basis
I process enquiry information on the basis of legitimate interest (responding to a request you have made), and any health-related information you choose to include on the basis of your explicit consent, which you may withdraw at any time by asking me to delete your messages.
How long I keep enquiries
If your enquiry does not lead to us working together, I delete it within 12 months. Records for ongoing clients are covered by the fuller privacy information I provide in my counselling agreement.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the information I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict its use. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, though I would welcome the chance to resolve any concern with you directly first.
